Multiple Sclerosis (or MS) is a chronic, often disabling disease that attacks the central nervous system (CNS), including the brain, spinal cord and optic nerves. Some people experience milder Symptoms like numbness in their limbs, while others overcome more severe obstacles including paralysis or vision loss. The progress, severity and specific symptoms of MS are unpredictable because they vary from one person to another. Today, thanks in large part to charitable action taken by organizations like the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, new treatments and advances in medical research are giving hope to the millions of people who have been affected by the disease personally, as a family member, friend or neighbor of someone suffering with MS and its devastating aftermath.
